One Year On…

Exactly one year on from my latest blog post, I guess I have a bit of explaining to do. The past year has been, let’s say, a bit different. Exciting in many ways but also a bit turbulent. I am desperate to get back into blogging, a hobby which I loved for a long time so let’s start it off with a bit of a life update.

Work

One of the last posts I did on this blog was about how I was taking the plunge and jumping in the world of self-employment. A move which I think will always be down as one of the best I have ever made, especially as a generally terrible decision maker… Since setting up Gatto as my full time job, I have had so many opportunities to expand my horizons and learn new things it really has been an amazing experience. I have gone from a team of one (little old me) creating premade blog designs to having staff members and being able to expand our services to things which I never thought I would be able to do.

Home

A huge development in my life is that a few months ago, my boyfriend and I bought our first house together and were introduced to the world of mortgages and home improvements. Although it is such a big step in life, it felt so easy because we love living with each other and have no plans to end that any time soon. It’s amazing to have a space which is truly our own and can make our home. We have already done quite a bit of decorating and changing around but I have so many plans!

Personal

As I said, self-employment was a great step to take for me, especially now I am definitely able to support myself and pay the bills, however at first it was really hard. Being stuck in the house 24/7 was a bit of a strain and it increased my anxiety (something which has been a struggle for a while) to the point where I found it impossible to leave the house. After a few months of my business doing well and the loveliest boyfriend picking me up when I was down, I started to feel much better and was able to get back to a good place. Plus, the new addition to our little family (a black and white Shih Tzu called Toby) looked after me more than any human possibly could…

Relationships

I think it’s fair to say that over the past year, the relationships in my life have been up and down but I am at a point in life where I am really happy with the people who surround me in a way I never have been before. A while ago, I wrote a post about cutting negative people out of your life, something which I feel is incredibly important and something which I have really taken on board. I’ve suffered over the past few years with sour relationships putting me down and now these ties have been cut, my happiness has increased massively. I am now really close to the friends I have, in a solid relationship with someone who supports me endlessly and incredibly close to my family.

All in all a good year which has set me up for my (not so) dramatic return to blogging…
